Boating and Drinking Do Not Mix



One of the great things about living in Western New York is our close proximity to the many lakes and
 
rivers that surround us. Our closeness to water has obviously played a large role in Western New
 
Yorkers’ love of water sports. Boating and jet skiing are some of our favorite past times in the summer
 
months. Over half a million New Yorkers own mechanically propelled water vessels, but with the
 
possession of a watercraft comes the risk of injuries and fatalities.

June is a great month. It contains the first day of summer, and for many it’s the start of a fun-filled
party season. June plays host to such events as proms, graduations and graduation parties, weddings, family reunions and much more.

And while it may seem like all fun and games, June is actually the second deadliest month for alcohol-related car crashes according to a study done by The Liberty Mutual Group and SADD.
